The year is almost over! Time for a final BGC new construction update for December 2019.
For many folks, the path to early FI is very much centered on real estate. Whether we are talking about for investing/speculating purposes (i.e., the pursuit of passive income, net worth), or simply trying to locate a desirable neighborhood to live in, housing is something that is difficult to ignore outright.
Ideally, it’s possible to have your cake and another one too, finding a fabulous area that can get you the best of all worlds.
I’m obviously super biased, but for me, at this point in time, I’m finding a lot of bang for your buck out here in the most upscale part of Metro Manila.
Uptown Park Suites
As I’ve mentioned in past articles, I think that the Uptown region of BGC is the place to be. Lots of shiny new projects, like residential development, Megaworld’s Uptown Park Suites, are well underway now, which should really help add to the overall vitality of Uptown once all is said and done.
Here’s where things stand at the conclusion of 2019.

From the other side. I’m hearing that Tower 1 has started turnovers, and the parking lot looks open now.

Tower 1 exterior looks pretty much done, but Tower 2 still needs a lot of work…

JP Morgan Chase (Manila)
Staring directly across the street from Uptown Park Suites is the under construction new headquarters for JP Morgan Chase (Manila).
Lots of progress made here over the past year, and here’s a view from higher up.
Uptown is quickly rising!
Mitsukoshi Mall (And The Seasons Residences)
Within close proximity (and also located in Uptown) of Uptown Park Suites and the new JP Morgan Chase hq is Federal Land’s Mitsukoshi Mall + The Seasons Residences.
Which has also made huge strides in 2019.
Personally, I can’t wait for the mall to be completed!

Grand Hyatt South Tower Residences
Most impressive of all, in my own humble opinion, is the outstanding progress being made at the Grand Hyatt South Tower Residences.

Big Apple Mall
The nearby Big Apple Mall (also in Uptown) doesn’t get much press, but it’s good to see that progress hasn’t stalled and there’s still lots of work still being done here…
Another Federal Land project, but it seems like the Mitsukoshi + The Seasons gets most of the attention (and eyeballs) these days…
Avida Turf
And finally, to one of the, in my own humble opinion, “uglier” residential projects under development in Uptown, we’ve got Avida’s Turf.
To me, it just looks out of place and dulls the luster of all the glassy buildings next to it (e.g., Grand Hyatt Manila Hotel).
But when it comes to real estate, straight up, it’s all about:
Location, Location, Location
So yeah, looks ain’t everything!
Turf should still be a kickass apartment to live in (location wise)…
One of the “ugliest” towers in the “best” part of town?
Perhaps…
Other Projects
Most everyone complains that the parking near Uptown is absolutely atrocious… so it’s quite pleasing to see that the following parking structure has advanced quite a bit since the last time I tracked it…
Should be ready soon, hopefully!
